The future of current Red Devils star Marcus Rashford remains uncertain, as he has been heavily linked with a move away.
Additionally, winger Antony has been loaned to La Liga side Real Betis for the rest of the season, which means United might look to enhance their attacking options.
On Wednesday afternoon, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported that United are interested in signing forward Mathys Tel if Bayern Munich decides to allow the player to leave.
Ornstein shared on social media: “Man Utd interested in signing Mathys Tel if Bayern Munich sanction loan departure before deadline. #MUFC not progressing move yet as prioritising exits + contact with 19yo’s camp rather than #FCBayern – but temporary switch carries appeal.”
Besides United, Arsenal and Chelsea have also shown interest in the 19-year-old attacker.
On Wednesday night, Bayern manager Vincent Kompany started Tel in the Champions League match against Slovan Bratislava.
The Frenchman played for 62 minutes before being substituted by Kingsley Coman, with Bayern securing a 3-1 victory.
After the match, a video circulated on social media showing Tel interacting with Bayern fans.
Tel raised his arms in the air and spent time signing autographs for supporters.
Journalist Victor Catalina wrote: “After the team, Mathys Tel goes alone to the south curve, gives away his jacket and takes selfies. They could have been the last ones. The scenes look like a farewell.” You can watch the footage below.
Reacting on social media, one Man United fan said: “I hope we can go all out to bring him.”
Another tweeted: “Mathys Tel seemingly saying bye to the Bayern fans.”
A third fan added: “Surely he’s leaving now?”
